Ear Wax Removal Using Microsuction

Microsuction ear wax removal is a safe and effective treatment method favoured by doctors for the removal of ear wax. Microsuction or ear vacuuming as it’s also known by is a “dry” treatment method which means no water is used during the ear wax removal process.

The use of microsuction in ear wax removal is commonly used when a patient has a history of ear infections, perforated ear drums or has had previous ear surgery. Using a small nozzle your wax removal specialist will use a low pressure vacuum to gently release ear wax and debris logged in the ear canal.

Before beginning microsuction treatment our ear wax removal specialist will perform a full ear inspection to confirm your suitability for microsuction ear wax removal.

Microsuction Ear Wax Removal Treatment Preparation.

Microsuction is a fast and reliable ear wax removal technique which uses a small low pressure vacuum to remove the wax from your ear canal. To make the treatment as effective as possible we suggest using olive oil ear drops for a minimum 3 days leading up to the treatment. By using olive oil ear drops you will soften the wax in your ears helping us remove your impacted ear wax quickly.

If you are suffering from ear pain or would like to use our same day treatment service you may not want to wait for ear drops to take effect, if this is the case our ear wax removal specialists will still be able to remove ear wax from your ears using our microsuction technology.

What Happens During Microsuction Ear Wax Treatment

After arriving at your ear wax removal appointment our specialist will perform a full ear health check using a device called an endoscope. This allows us to see inside the ear canal and allows us to check the overall health of your ears and most importantly that your ear drum is healthy and suitable for microsuction ear wax removal treatment.

Using the information provided in your ear health questionnaire along with the results of your ear inspection your ear wax removal specialist will confirm microsuction is the correct treatment technique and begin the process of removing ear your ear wax.

You will be asked to sit in the upright position and our specialist will gently insert a small suction nozzle into your ear canal. This is completely painless and very effective.

Throughout the treatment your specialist may use an endoscope to inspect the ears as this allows us to make sure the wax has been removed and the ears are in a healthy condition.

After Microsuction Treatment

As a dry procedure, you are not required to refrain from immediately swimming, bathing or submerging your ears in water. We would suggest the continued use of olive oil drops for 3 - 4 days after treatment to lubricate the ear canals especially if you have had a large amount of wax removed.
